Trusted Tire Shop Serving Upland Since 1986
Back in the fall, a customer pulled into our shop on 1 Upland Avenue with a nail stuck in her rear tire. She'd been driving on it for a few days and didn't even realize it was losing air until her tire pressure light came on during her commute through Brookhaven. She was worried she'd need a whole new set of tires and didn't know where to go. After nearly 40 years as a tire shop in Upland, PA, we see this kind of thing all the time, especially during construction season when nails and screws end up all over the roads around Delaware County.
At S&S Automotive Service, we've been the go-to tire shop for Upland families since 1986.
We tell you exactly whats going on with your tires, what needs fixed now, and what can wait. No pressure, no upsells. Just straight talk from a mechanic who's been doing this for decades right here in your neighborhood.

Trusted by Upland Drivers for over 40 years
Just last month, a frantic customer called us at 9 AM. Her dashboard light came on during her commute through Upland, and she didn't know what to do. Turns out, she was 3,000 miles overdue for her oil change. This happens more than you'd think in our busy Delaware County community.
At S&S Automotive Service, we've been helping Upland families keep their cars running smoothly since 1986. Located right here on Upland Avenue, we know the stop-and-go traffic on 352 and how those short trips to the Springfield Mall can be tough on your engine oil.
Why Regular Oil Changes Matter in Upland
Your car's oil breaks down faster than you think. Between the winter freeze and summer heat we get here in southeastern Pennsylvania, plus all that crawling traffic on I-95, your engine works overtime. Old oil turns thick and dirty, causing serious damage that costs way more than a simple oil change.
We see this all the time:
customers who wait too long and end up needing major engine work. Don't let that be you. Fresh oil keeps everything moving like it should and saves you thousands down the road.

Trusted by Upland Drivers for 40 Years
Just last winter, we got a call from a customer whose car was sliding all over the place on Upland Avenue after the first snow. Turns out she was still running her summer tires from the year before. The tread was practically gone. This happens more than you'd think around here in Delaware County.
At S&S Automotive Service, we've been helping Upland families stay safe on the road since 1986. Located right here on Upland Avenue, we know how the potholes on Route 352 and the stop-and-go traffic on Chester Pike eat through tires faster than most people expect.
Why Tire Maintenance Matters in Upland
Your tires are the only thing between your car and the road. Between the freezing winters and hot summers we get here in southeastern Pennsylvania, plus all the rough roads and construction zones, your tires take a real beating. Worn tires with low tread don't grip the road like they should, especially on wet or icy pavement.
We see it all the time:
customers who put off tire replacement and end up with a blowout on I-95 or a flat tire in the Springfield Mall parking lot. A simple tire check takes a few minutes and could save you a lot of trouble down the road.

New Tire Sales and Installation
Buying new tires doesn't have to be confusing. We carry tires from trusted brands that fit your vehicle, your driving habits, and your budget. Whether you need all-season tires for your daily commute through Upland and Aston, or something heavier duty for hauling and towing, we help you pick the right set without the pushy sales pitch.
We install every set of tires we sell, including mounting, balancing, and setting your tire pressure to the right spec. Most new tire installations take about an hour, so you can grab a coffee while we take care of it.
Flat Tire Repair
Nails, screws, glass, potholes – the roads around Delaware County are tough on tires. If you've got a slow leak or a flat tire, bring it to our shop, and we'll take a look. Many punctures in the tread area can be patched safely, which saves you the cost of a brand new tire. If the damage is to close to the sidewall or the tire is too worn for a safe repair, we'll let you know and give you options.
We handle flat tire repairs for Upland residents and anyone passing through the area. If your tire goes flat and you can get to us safely, drive on over. If not, call us, and we'll help you figure out your best option.
Tire Rotation and Balancing
Your front and rear tires wear at different rates. Front tires usually wear faster because they handle steering and most of the braking force. Regular tire rotations even out that wear so all four tires last longer. We recommend rotating your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, or about every other oil change.
Tire balancing is just as important. Unbalanced tires cause vibrations in your steering wheel, uneven wear, and extra stress on your suspension. We check the balance every time we rotate your tires or install new ones.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Service
That little tire pressure light on your dashboard? It's there for a reason. Low tire pressure hurts your gas mileage, causes uneven tire wear, and can even lead to blowouts. Our TPMS service includes sensor testing, replacement, and recalibration after tire service. If your TPMS light comes on, don't ignore it. Stop by, and we'll check it out quickly.
Seasonal Tire Changeover
Some drivers around Upland and Brookhaven run winter tires during the cold months and switch to all-season or summer tires when it warms up. We make the changeover quick and easy. Bring in your second set, and we'll swap them out, check the tread depth, and make sure everything is balanced and ready to go. A lot of our customers schedule their seasonal changeover at the same time as their oil change to save a trip.

Tire Shop Questions from Upland Area Customers
After nearly 40 years of tire service in Delaware County, we hear the same questions from customers almost every day. Here are honest answers to the tire questions Upland drivers ask us most, straight from a mechanic who's seen it all.
How do I know when my tires need to be replaced?
The easiest way to check is the penny test. Stick a penny into your tire tread with Lincoln's head facing down. If you can see the top of his head, your tread is too low, and it's time for new tires. Other signs include cracks in the sidewall, bulges or blisters on the tire surface, and your car pulling to one side. If your tires are more than 6 years old, they should be inspected even if the tread looks ok, because rubber breaks down over time. We check tire condition during every service visit so you always know where you stand.
How often should I get my tires rotated?
We recommend tire rotations every 5,000 to 7,500 miles for most vehicles. That works out to roughly every other oil change, which makes it easy to remember. Regular rotations help your tires wear evenly, so you get the most life out of each set. If you drive a lot of stop-and-go traffic on Chester Pike or Route 352, your front tires may wear even faster, making regular rotations even more important. We'll let you know if we see uneven wear patterns that could point to alignment or suspension issues too.
Can a flat tire be repaired or do I need a new one?
It depends on where the damage is and how bad it is. Punctures in the center of the tread area, like from a nail or screw, can usually be patched safely as long as the hole isn't too big. But if the damage is on the sidewall or near the edge of the tread, a repair isn't safe because that part of the tire flexes too much. We'll always inspect the tire and show you exactly what we're dealing with before recommending a repair or replacement. We never patch a tire that isn't safe to fix.
Why does my steering wheel shake when I drive?
A shaking steering wheel usually points to a tire or wheel problem. The most common cause is unbalanced tires, which happens when the weight distribution around the tire and wheel is uneven. This is a quick fix; we just rebalance them on our machine. Other causes include a bent wheel from hitting a pothole (we've got plenty of those around Upland), worn suspension parts, or tires with flat spots from sitting too long. If the shaking only happens when you brake, it could be warped rotors instead of a tire issue. Either way, bring it in and we'll figure out what's causing it.
